Importance of Branding

A brand is any word, symbol, jingle, tagline, or a combination of these, helping an individual identify an organization, its product or service or any other offering. It facilitates the consumer to recall the product and distinguish it from the competitor’s product.
Branding is essential as it helps the customers remember your product and recall it in times of purchase. For example, when I purchase a liquid adhesive to stick my school project, the first name that comes to my mind is Fevicol. It’s because of its branding.
A brand can be promoted in many creative ways, starting from advertising, promotional merchandise, logo, jingles, social media campaigns etc., the sky is the limit. A brand gives the company recognition. Branding, when done strategically results in the product becoming synonymous to the brand. For example, Xerox is a brand and photocopy is a product. Maggi is a brand, and instant noodles Is a product. However, because of the branding intensity, we ask xerox and Maggi.
A brand provides the organisation with a polished appearance which in turn builds trust and loyalty with consumers.
A brand brings together customers with similar preferences and values; this leads to brand loyalty and retaining the customer.
Branding helps the customers quickly associate your products with that of the competitors. It allows customers to build expectations for the product or service they are about to purchase.
Branding helps build associations with the company, in turn providing a ready customer base for future launches.
Rebranding is vital in the long term as change is inevitable, and evolution is necessary for long term sustainability.
